This is a 5-inch butterfly valve seat made from Nitrile (also known as NBR or Buna-N) rubber. It is a critical wear part installed within the body of a 5" butterfly valve, where the valve disc presses against it to create a bubble-tight seal in the closed position. In concrete batch plant operations, these valves control the gravity-fed or pneumatic flow of cement, fly ash, and other fine aggregates from silos, hoppers, and screw conveyors. This replacement seat is needed when the original becomes worn or damaged, leading to material leakage and inaccurate batching. Nitrile is specifically chosen for its excellent resistance to abrasion from these powdered materials.
