The Betts Model 8555 is a 20-inch, full-opening manhole cover designed for the demanding requirements of over-the-road dry bulk and liquid transport tankers. The assembly includes a cast aluminum cover with a handle, six smooth-operating aluminum cam latches, and robust 5/8" swing bolts. The hold-downs are adjustable to create a positive seal, and the cover incorporates safety latches that prevent opening until residual tank pressure is relieved. This manhole cover is a necessary replacement part for tankers to ensure safe and secure transport, meeting 49CFR §178.345-5 and §178.347-3 requirements.
