This slump meter is a hydraulic oil pressure gauge that allows the mixer operator to monitor the concrete's consistency, or slump, from the cab. It works by measuring the amount of hydraulic pressure required to turn the mixing drum; a stiffer mix requires more pressure, which translates to a higher reading on the gauge. This allows for real-time adjustments to the mix by adding water to achieve the desired slump. This specific gauge is designed as a direct replacement for Oshkosh front discharge mixers from the 1994-1998 model years.
