This is a replacement breather plug for Rex concrete mixer gearboxes, specifically the 770 model. Its primary function is to allow the gearbox to "breathe" by equalizing the internal pressure with the atmospheric pressure as temperatures fluctuate during operation. This ventilation prevents pressure buildup that can lead to oil seal failure and leaks. The breather also filters incoming air to prevent contaminants like dust and moisture from entering the gearbox and compromising the lubricating oil.
